# Checkers — provenance

**Original work, written for ExeBrowser.** `checkers.js` and `index.html` in this
directory were written from scratch for this site. There is no third-party
code, no decompiled binary and no extracted artwork: the board and pieces are
drawn with CSS.

Licensed **MIT**, the same as the rest of the ExeBrowser frontend.

## Rules implemented

American checkers / English draughts: compulsory captures, multi-jumps, crowning ends the move, no-move loses, 50-move draw rule.

The rules of traditional board games are not copyrightable. The computer
opponent is our own search and evaluation code.
